On The Bone Records Compilation number two consist of nineteen tracks ranging in various styles.
It includes punk, rock and electronic music. I thought the compilation is good; however, there
were a few songs that I didn’t like. These songs are the slow tracks. I myself don’t have a good
taste for slow tracks.
I preferred more of the songs which were heavy like, High Five by Pulled Apart by Horses. Most
of my favorite tracks on the compilation are electronic. I particularly liked The Strong Nuclear
Force by Napoleon iird. This song is electronic. It has a chunky down tempo like break beat.
The next song is called The Conversation by The Lodger. It has a good vibration far as punk
goes. The lead vocal in the track says "I don’t want to fall in love".
The Fall of Hans Gruber by Winter Mute starts as a slow track but later turns into a good song.
I liked this song as it carried a good vibe. I also liked the vocal "fight fight fight all you want
it's coming to yo"”. It reminds me of past like experiences.
Hit Me by Two Minute is a good song. With an organ leading, I think the track is a little dark and
full of haunting. This track is also one of my favorites as I have never really heard a song of this
nature. It's defiantly an original piece of work.
The Naked City by These Monsters starts off slow. It’s has a curious like guitar line throughout
the track which I like. About half way through the track it turns very heavy. I think close to the
heaviest track on the compilation. I think more highly of the second half of the track than the first half.
Rise and Fall of the Alpha Male by Bilge Pump is probably the heaviest track on the entire compilation.
Apart from it’s heaviness it has lots of build ups and progression in it. This track is also on of my
favorites on the compilation.
Starting with a guitar solo That f**king Tank's Stephen Hawkwind seems really good near the beginning.
Later it turns into a down tempo song which is a delusional paradise. Afterward the song slowly builds up
again with a lead guitar which is a chunky beat.
Lucky Jack (Bracken Remix) by I Concur is another one of my favorites on the compilation. It’s an
electronic song which has a warping bass line turning it into gravy.
The next track called Drunken Dancer by Mucky sailor is another electronic song. If I were to put
in a genre I would call it hardcore. It's hi paced with lots of energy with lots of build ups and break downs.
Winter Warmer by Dinosaur Pile-Up is another group which uses everything including everything from
guitars to synthesizers. The song is well remastered and has a good up lifting vibe in it.
An ambient track called Shut You Off by WorriedAboutSatan is good. It has a nice soft beat which makes
for a nice mellow come down to the compilation.
The second to last track is by Benjamin Weatheril called The Flower Of Magherally. It consists of a wide variety of
instruments such as flutes, bass and brass makes for a very original sounding track.
The last track called Polar Swelling (remix) by Grammatics is another ambient track. It has lots of samples
and horn samples in it which makes the song fit together very nicely. A quiet beat makes for a good meditation song.
This compilation is good in respects to the variety of music that is in it. I enjoyed most of the music on it.
I didn’t particularly like a couple slow tracks on the compilation though.
