According to their biography, Just Add Water are a five piece 'crappy pop punk band' from Chesterfield. On this mini album, Porn In The Park, they show that they are every bit a pop punk band but not at all crappy.

Their ska-pop is reminiscent of Less Than Jake and is very energetic, very catchy and very good fun and at fourteen minutes long for six tracks, it is certainly straight to the point. Musically, it’s not really pushing any boundaries but I’m sure that was the last thing on Just Add Water's minds when they started a band.

The songs themselves don't seem like they're precisely mapped out – more like they just happened – and as a result do seem to merge into each other. This is, however, simply a feature of the genre they are aiming for and not a criticism to be levelled at the band. As a result it's difficult to describe one song as being better or worse than any other – they've pretty much hit the nail on the head with all of them. The pre-requisite distortion, palm mutes and 'na na na' vocals are all in place.

Lyrically, Just Add Water get it spot on on Fuck Off Sword with "Why does everybody hate us? We’re just a crappy pop punk band" which highlights their simple musical philosophy rather well. With other tracks called such things as Growing Up With Morons and Don't Bullshit Me Stuart it's pretty obvious where they are coming from.

There are bands with much less ability than Just Add Water that take themselves much more seriously. The joke is on them.
