This band is by far one of the best I have ever heard.
I found Jackson Caged to be an excellent band. Ranging from heavy metal to punk, I would really
like to see these guys live. Their sound reminds me of the band Disturbed, of the heaviest
bands I’ve heard in a while.
The first of the five tracks is Jarhead. The intro starts off with a nice lead guitar. When
the vocals kick in the track is very heavy. The drumming is done with a double kick drum, so you
can imagine how heavy this first song really is. The solo in this song is very intense. The song
goes through many breakdowns and high paced heaviness which is awesome.
The second track, The Flies - definitely a good name for the track. It has a solid guitar
line throughout, and I also like the vocals. "Close your eyes and hold your breath", "Taken by surprise",
"My as well play f**king dead" - the break downs also sound great. There is no solo in this track but
I do like it.
Darwinian is the slowest track of the five, but I do like it; it reminds me of the band
Gravedigger. Much of the song is slower but it picks up into a heavier track. The lead guitar
sets it off, and there's a solo. Everything fits together very well.
Bumping Heads is the fourth track of the five, and defiantly reminds me of Disturbed.
It has a good riff, with main vocals "we're bumping heads I’ll kill your family", and a very good
solo. I think it’s the best solo of the five.
The last track, Protagonist, is on the more punk side of the five. It is a fast track with
changeovers that flow together very well and make the song very enjoyable.
This band is very enjoyable, and I'd really like to see these guys live. My personal favorite out
of the five tracks is The Flies. [dr^dr3w lives in Canada, so let us know if you go on tour there - Ed.]

Sheffield's Jackson Caged are straight to the point with title track Jarhead.
With definite similarities to Metallica, this pumped, riffed up band will have instant
appeal with metal fans. Lyrics like destruction and harm, we're brothers in arms, are you ready for war,
and the band are tight with well arranged songs. The third track
Darwinian is the most ground breaking on the EP with softer melodies and a psychedelic feel.
This tune gradually builds up and down with some nice guitar work and good structure. With
the EP ending much as it started Jackson Caged dont break the mould massively and could
do with getting out the heavy-metal comfort zone slightly more. As they say in their bio though,
'Sheffield is listening to us' and if Sheffield is listening, then you’ve hit the nail on the
head already chaps! For those of you who like your Metal pumped, tight and straight down the
line, keep a look out for these guys.
