About the Band
Since the band's inception we never had any intention of being one of
those band that practice and never does any gigging. Gigs are what
it’s about and it’s a good way of making sure we practice and get
stuff done, and we do. In the Grapes we had just 5 tunes since then
the set list has grown so we can now pick and chose what we play. We
love our tunes like they’re our own babies!
Since Christmas we’ve played the Boardwalk, The Casbah, The Grapes and
The Classic Rock Bar, we’ve also competed in the Battle of the Bands at
the NMB (see review on l2sb.co.uk).
We’ve also done a bit of recording, resulting in the completion of our
first proper EP. Recording has been (like the whole thing) an exciting
new adventure for us. Early recordings were rough although we now have
some pretty good ones. Sandman’s reviewed an early CD of ours as having
“an amusing quality used to grab people’s attention, a Tribute to David
Hasselhoff is clearly long overdue and they supply it. For some reason
it reminds me of some old Housemartin demos I once heard. Could be a
decent garage band by the sounds of it.”
The ‘Amber EP’ features all new recordings (more or less) and is available
at Parrot Records -Devonshire St, Sheffield, or at our gigs. It has four
tracks: A Tribute to David Hasselhoff, Drive on Amber, Munchkinland, and Relent-Less.
So what’s to come?
After the Classic Rock Bar we decided to spend some time working on new
material and after a brief respite we are about to start another batch
of gigs over the next few months starting with 2nd May 2003 in Manchester,
TMESIS Café BarLlyd St (near the Town Hall). It should be a really good night!
It will be also featuring Jack on the sweet harp of joy. You can download our
music and check out the details of our gigs at
http://science.dc-hosting.co.uk/fredyukka/gigs.asp.
We’d love to hear your feedback.
Anyway a final word to you people who have seen and supported us up until now.
It means the word to play to people we care about. Thanks!!
